Type E: This type can be used for temperatures between -200°C and 900°C. However, some of these are used in steel factories as well as in the glass factory. It has the ability to endure high temperatures which is why it is widely used in the industry requiring very high temperature.
Temperature Range: The thermocouple can sense various ranges of temperatures. Just make sure you choose one that will withstand the temperatures you will work at. If you are expecting very high or low temperatures, ensure that your thermocouple can measure these values.
Type R: This thermocouple is capable of measuring a temperature range from 0°C to 1600°C but is most commonly used for extremely high temperature measuring applications, such as a steel factory where they need to melt and mold metals. This lets the material withstand severe conditions.
Type S: This type also measures from its own range of 0 to 1600 °C, for which high accuracy is critically important in laboratories and industrial furnaces. But when it comes to the accuracy, scientists mostly depend on Type S thermocouple for getting temperature as it is very accurate and reliable.
